Supporting Our Community

The GM Chorale supports the Amazing Grace Food Pantry with ongoing food and monetary donations. It’s a meaningful way to help address food insecurity in our area; a need that has only grown in today’s challenging times. For us, the spirit of music and the spirit of giving go hand in hand.

Inspiring our Community

On the eve of our nation’s 250th anniversary, Professor of Music, Neely Bruce, brought together singers, instrumentalists, Wesleyan faculty members and students for a performance celebrating our shared history.  Members of the GM Chorale participated in his moving choral presentation of The Bill of Rights; Ten Amendments in Eight Motets.

Collaborating with our Community

Twice per year for the last 7 years Joe D’Eugneio teams up with Bob Anderson of WMNR Fine Arts Radio for an hour-long interview.  He shares details about the chorale, past concerts and upcoming events, reaching more than 60,000 listeners across the state.  This long-standing collaboration brings our music into homes across the state, fostering and igniting a shared appreciation for classical music.

Celebrating with our Community

Each December for the past several decades, The First Congregational Church of Cheshire has been filled for its annual Festival of Carols. With readings, Christmas carols, and seasonal anthems, the evening brings together the song and spirit of collaboration to its congregation and community.  The combined voices of the Chancel Choir and the GM Chorale, both under the direction of Joe D’Eugenio, GM Chorale’s Artistic Director, and the church’s Director of Music, inspire the congregation through musical expression and spiritual unity. Everyone participates fully in all elements of the evening’s uplifting event. The festival has blossomed into a beloved musical tradition; one that will continue to bring joy and connection to all that gather for many years to come.

Engaging our Community

Every year, voices from across the state join together for the Summer Sings program.  This year, Joe D’Eugenio led them in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem, one of the great choral masterworks.  Bringing together such a mix of voices created a real sense of connection and community.  Many participants are inspired to keep singing, and some go on to join the GM Chorale adding their voices to our musical family.
