Alchemy, the vocal chamber ensemble of GMChorale, was founded in 2016 as a collective of accomplished ensemble singers, professional soloists, music educators, and instrumentalists. The ensemble extends GMChorale’s mission of “Singing for a Lifetime” through collaborations, educational outreach, community engagement, and concert tours. The ensemble frequently partners with youth and school choirs, including the Elm City Girls’ Choir and Saecula Singers, providing mentorship and artistic leadership.

In 2018, Alchemy was honored as a featured ensemble at the Connecticut Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association convention. Renowned for its versatility and artistry across a wide range of repertoire, the group draws its name from the ancient art of alchemy—the transformative process of refinement and creation—symbolizing its commitment to shaping musical experiences of beauty and depth.

This season’s concert program, Music Through the Ages, showcases a rich and diverse selection of choral works spanning from the Renaissance to the present day. Highlights include Mozart’s Laudate Dominum, Brahms’ Nänie, Op. 82, selections from Schubert’s Mass in E-Flat, Lauridsen’s Sure On This Shining Night, and Dan Forrest’s The Music of Living. The program also features pieces by J.S. Bach, James Mulholland, Bob Chilcott, and more.
